An Introduction To Nebulance

A short essay on my project "Nebulance".

I started doing game development just recently. And it had been a pleasant experience. I tried to use Raylib first, I used C++ with it and made a simple game called Riftfall. And later made a vanilla Javascript version of Riftfall. That game was not good, I know.

And after some time, I tried to use Unreal, but it took at least 4 hours to compile, and never run. I had some hope in Godot, but I did not like the ‘visual editor’, so from that point onwards, I have been using ThreeJS for my game Nebulance.

Inspiration

I got my inspiration from The World, No Man’s Sky, Minecraft and Myself.

I am sure that if you have been in the gaming community, you have heard about Minecraft. I used to play a ton of minecraft, many hours a day.

No Man’s Sky on the other hand is more niche, it is a Space RPG game, and Nebulance is also one.

Nebulance, originally started from the idea of a ‘space simulation’, it first had a generation system, that was seed-dependent, it meant the the same seed(e.g. 123) will always generate the same item.

Gameplay & Features

Nebulance features a universe consisting of galaxies and stars. Space Stations are also there, for you to upgrade and sell loot.

What Next

  • I will be adding more NPC ships to the game.
  • I will be transfering my game to Unity Engine.
  • You and I can play well online together!
